By Shanta Adhikari, Bharatpur, May 24: CPN (Maoist Center) candidate for Bharatpur Metropolis, Renu Dahal, has been elected garnering 52,030 votes against her closest rival, Bijaya Subedi of CPN (UML), who got 39,581 votes.
Similarly,
Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Chitra Sen Adhikari for the post of deputy mayor got
elected with 52,830 votes against his closet rival Himala Gurung of Rastriya
Prajatantra Party (RPP), who got 30,612 votes.
Both Dahal and Adhikari were the common candidates of the ruling five party coalition whereas Subedi and Gurung were the common candidates of the UML-RPP alliance.
Dahal was also elected the mayor in this metropolis in the local level election held in 2017.

Paudel who rebelled against NC decision and filed candidacy for the post of
mayor of the metropolis received 14,728 votes
