Kathmandu, May 13: Nepali poet and artiste Jeevan Khattri along with other artists have been honoured at the closing ceremony of the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival held in South Korea. The documentary film 'In the Land of Machines', featuring Nepali poets Sunildipta Rai and Dilip Bantawa in the lead role, was declared outstanding at the festival and received a special show at the closing ceremony. According to the organizers, the opening and closing films are considered special and are referred to as 'the face of the festival'. The 'red carpet' honour was given to Khattri along with documentary producer and director Kim Ok Yong, assistant director Kim Sunhaye, Nepali language translator Igiju Muna, and the documentary production team including Mohan Karki on the occasion. Jeonju International Film Festival is one of the three major international film festivals hosted in South Korea. According to the organizers of the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival, a total of 2,497 films were submitted from around the world, and 224 films from 57 countries were screened, including 9,148 feature films and 76 short films. Two of the best movies among them were given a special show in the opening and closing ceremony. The 26th Jeonju International Film Festival kicked off on April 30 and concluded on May 9. In the ten-day festival, the debut film 'Continental' directed by Radu Jude was selected among 25, while the poetry documentary film 'In the Land of Machines' was awarded the best and received the closing show.
