This year, the Himalayan region has experienced the highest temperatures so far. The heat has been increased due to the lack of rainfall and persistent sunshine compared to previous years. Bharat Jung Shahi, Spokesperson for Kharpunath Rural Municipality, said that the temperature in the municipal centre, Yangchhu Bazaar, had increased compared to last year. Last year, the temperature reached up to 27 degrees Celsius, but this year it has risen to 35 degrees Celsius. He said that it had become difficult for people to go outside during the day and because of the increased heat and lack of rain crops started drying up.
Over 50,000 locals from more than seven villages in Rapti Sonari and Narainapur Rural Municipalities of Banke are at high risk and fear of flooding as the government failed to manage a budget of Rs. 60 million. A year has passed since the embankment built on the Rapti River at Khalla Jhagdiya in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-7 was swept away by a flood. However, the requested budget for its reconstruction has not been received, causing extreme fear of flooding among the residents of the surrounding seven villages. Chairperson of Narainapur Rural Municipality Ishtiyak Ahmad Sah has said that the embankment, which was swept away by last year's flood, has not been rebuilt even as the monsoon season begins this year. "As a result, it seems almost certain that the 50,000 residents of the seven villages in both municipalities will be affected by flooding," said Sah.
The construction of 220/132 kV substation in Barhabise Municipality of Sindhupalchowk has been completed. There are power transformers of 220/132 kV, 160 MVA and 132/11 kV, 5 MVA in Barhabise substation. Testing of all the equipment of the substation based on Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology has been completed, according to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). Another 400 kV substation is also under construction in Barhabise. The electricity of the 102-megawatt Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project built in Sindhupalchowk under the leadership of Chilime Hydropower Company, a subsidiary of Nepal Electricity Authority, will be connected to this substation.
A zip line construction has begun in Kailash Rural Municipality-2 in Makwanpur district. The Baikuntha-Kailash zip line is being constructed as part of a multi-year plan, backed by the municipality itself, to promote tourism in the area. Ward Chairman of Ward No. 2, Rajendra Ghising, informed that the zip line was being built to attract both domestic and foreign tourists by expanding road access within the municipality. He said that the development of tourism infrastructure like a zip line would help draw more tourists to Ward No. 2. He said that the foundation work for the zip line had been completed and the installation of necessary iron poles was underway. He informed that approximately 35 per cent works on the project has been completed.

Several earthquake victims are still living in cracked houses in Bajura. Two earthquakes-- on January 24 and October 2, 2023—jolted Bajura damaging many houses. Jeet Sarki, a local from Chhededaha Rural Municipality-5, said that despite the cracks caused by the earthquakes, they had no option but to live in the run-down houses as there had been no reconstruction efforts. He said, "Although we managed to stay in the earthquake-damaged house in winter. Now, with the rainy season approaching, we fear the house might collapse, and we may end up buried under it. Neither do we have money to build a new house ourselves, nor do we have any other place to take shelter." Although the names of the victims were registered for the reconstruction of the houses which were at risk due to the earthquake, they are still forced to live in the cracked houses due to the lack of reconstruction, Sarki said.
