By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 7: A 42-foot-tall statue of Goddess Kali has been constructed for the shooting of Balidan as per the film’s storyline.
Director Santosh Sen said that after an extensive search across Nepal failed to yield a suitable statue, the production team travelled to Kolkata, India, and collaborated with skilled artisans to create the monumental structure.
“We needed a unique and massive statue of Kali Mata for the film. Despite searching extensively across the country, we failed to find one that met our requirements. Finally, we went to Kolkata, India, where we worked with skilled artisans to create the 42-foot-tall statue,” said Sen.
Although constructing the statue was a challenging endeavour, it has brought new recognition to Budhasubba Maidan in Hasina Simsar, Morang, Sen added.
Now called Kali Chaur, this site has become a popular attraction even before the film's shooting was completed.
The construction of a stage and over 200 stalls in the area has provided employment opportunities for locals and initiated the operation of a mini market, the director added.
According to Sen, the shooting of Balidan is nearly complete. The film’s release date and teaser will be officially announced after the final stages of production.
A team of around 30 people, led by popular South Indian action director Stunner Sam, is working on the action sequence of the film.
The story of Balidan revolves around the injustices meted out within the sovereign land of Nepal and the fight against the so-called heroes of society.
The lead role in the film is played by 12 Gaun-famed Samir Bhatt.
Presented by Asusen Films and Santosh Sen, the film is produced by Pawan Bradford Bista and Prem Puri is its Co-Producer.
