By Our Correspondent,Sarlahi, June 21: People of Kothi Khola in Hariban Municipality-1, a geographically remote area in Sarlahi district, have been happy as water has reached the settlement.
With the help of the UNDP and government of Japan, Hariban Municipality and Division Water Supply Office Malangwa have started supplying drinking water to 57 households of Kothi Khola in Chure region through a pumping system.
Locals living in hilly area had been forced to drink water from a well in the Kothi River for years, which is about seven meters below the settlement.
Tam Bahadur Ghising, Ward Chair of Hariban Municipality-1, informed that a well has been built near the Kothi Khola and a tank on the hill 700 meters above to supply drinking water to 57 families through a motor.
Ward chair Ghising said that Alternative Energy Promotion Center has arranged for solar to run the motor installed in the well.
Ram Bahadur Bomjan, a resident of Kothi Khola, said that they were earlier forced to drink the dirty water from the local source but added: “Now, we are very happy to get drinking water in our homes.”
According to him, earlier, the dire shortage of water impacted not only the management of animals but also affected sanitation.
In Hariban 1, water has been supplied to Kerabari and Kothi Khola by lifting till now, but water supply has not yet reached Bilandi, Beldanda, Kause Khola Vanmara and Dumrighari in the same ward.
