60 inter-caste couples honoured in Jumla

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Jumla, Apr. 9: CPN (Maoist Centre) has honoured 60 married inter-caste couples in Jumla. Speaking at the district conference of CPN (Maoist Centre) affiliated Dalit Mukti Morcha, chairman Chandra Bahadur Nepali said that in order to encourage and strengthen the couples who got married going against caste discrimination they had organised the honour programme.

According to the CPN (Maoist Centre) Jumla, they had organised the programme to eliminate existing social discrimination and support those taking steps against it. The couples who were honoured had thanked for such initiation. 

Umesh Pradhan, local of Guthichaur Rural Municipality, said that such programme had given additional encouragement to his family. 

Naresh Bhandari, central member of CPN (Maoist Centre) and district in-charge, said that since the party carries equality and proportionality as its main agenda, they had honoured the couples. 

The party had always emphasised on the federalism, proportionality and inclusiveness, he added. 

Karnali Provincial Government Whip and lawmaker Ransingh Pariyar said that untouchability and a social behavior such as denial of drinking water from Dalits should be eliminated from the society. 

A 45-member district working committee was formed under the leadership of chairman Chandra Bahadur Nepali and Secretary Punna Bahadur BK at the district conference.

Meanwhile, people's representatives and employees elected from the Dalit community were also honoured in the programme.
