By Our Correspondent,Kavrepalanchowk, April.1: Kavrepalanchowk's first wheelchair-accessible trail has been constructed in Bhaisepati in Banepa Municipality–13. Uddhav KC, former head of the District Coordination Committee, said that the trail would attract wheelchair users and develop the Bhaisepati area as an accessible tourism destination. He also added that the 800-metre trail was constructed with the support from the Bagmati provincial government, with the money left over from drafting the detailed project report (DPR) of the Bhaisepati Area Tourism Masterplan. He informed that the previous provincial government had allocated Rs. 10 million to prepare the DPR. Similarly, he shared that a road to the wheelchair trail had been constructed with Rs. 20 million provided by the government.KC further said that there were plans to extend the Bhaisepati trail to the Jure hillock in the same ward.A 100,000-litre water tank, suspension bridge and view point will also be constructed under the DPR. The trail offers wheelchair users an unobstructed view of the Kathmandu Valley as well as 14 mountain peaks north of the district. Bagmati Provincial Assembly member Laxmi Ghimire and other wheelchair users, including representatives from the Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre, travelled the trail on Thursday on the occasion of the sixth Accessible Tourism Day. Ghimire expressed happiness at being able to travel the trail on a wheelchair.
