Septuagenarian Damai working to preserve traditional instruments
Tike Damai, a resident of Hasnapur in Ward No. 8 of Baijnath Rural Municipality, Banke district, has been active in preserving the Panche Baja (five traditional Nepali musical instruments) and the Naumati Baja (nine traditional musical instruments) even at the age of 71. A group of 23 people, including Damai, who are interested in Panche Baja and Naumati Baja have been working to preserve the traditional music since their childhood.

Property worth 22.9 million gutted in fire
The fire that broke out here on Sunday evening has gutted goods worth Rs 22.9 million. In the fire, New Dajubhai, a furniture store operated by 37-year-old Bijan Chauguthi of Suryabinayak Municipality-5, Chundevi, the three-and-a-half-storey house of Bijan and adjoining Kripalu furniture factory of Pushpa Shilpkar were burnt down.

China's mega water diversion project benefits over 150 mln people
BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- The eastern and middle routes of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project have benefited more than 150 million people, China South-to-North Water Diversion Co., Ltd. said Sunday.The project has transferred 62 billion cubic meters of water to the drought-prone north via the eastern and middle routes, according to the company.The country's South-to-North Water Diversion Project has three routes. The middle route is the most prominent one, starting at the Danjiangkou Reservoir in central China's Hubei Province and running across Henan and Hebei before reaching Beijing and Tianjin. It began supplying water in December 2014.The eastern route transfers water from east China's Jiangsu Province to areas including Tianjin and Shandong.The western route is at the planning stage and is yet to be built.
Significant improvement in BoP : PM Prachanda
By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' said that balance of payment (BoP) has been improving due to steps taken by the government.Addressing a program organized by Nepal National Employee Association, Nepal Rastra Bank on "Current Challenge of Economy and Future Course of Action of its Solution" the PM said that foreign exchange reserve has improved and the indicators that measure the liquidity and interest rate are also improving. PM Prachanda shared that the government has been preparing the plan and policy for the forthcoming fiscal year (FY) and along with it process for the formulation the annual budget is moving ahead. He said that the government is completely focused on sustainable economic development and prosperity. The Prime Minister viewed that there is need to take coordinated initative from all the state apparatus, private sector and all the stake holders to achieve a goal of sustainable development and prosperity PM Prachanda pointed out the need for a significant structural and transformational change. He maintained that the government has been taking important steps to face the economic challenges and is implementing various policy and programmes with an aim of good governance, prosperity and social justice. He said that there is no need to stand in long line due to improvement in service delivery. Books are being timely reached in schools.
