Municipality allocates budget for charkha ping
Dashain is one of the major festivals for Nepalis. In the past, traditional bamboo swings called "linge ping," hand-operated wooden Ferris wheels known as "charkhe ping," and flying kites were the main attractions during Dashain. However, with the change in time and the adoption of a modern lifestyle, people have left behind these traditional ways of celebrating festivals. This year, Baudikali Rural Municipality in Nawalparasi has allocated budget for preserving the traditional attractions of Dashain.
Minister Saud to visit US from October 29
Foreign Minister NP Saud is scheduled to visit the United States after United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ visit to Nepal, starting on October 29. The visit by Minister Saud is under preparation by the Ministry, said Saud’s secretariate issuing information about it. He is likely to fly on October 29. Saud’s visit scheduled earlier had been cancelled due to the delay in UN SG’s Visit to Nepal that had been scheduled for October 13-14. Saud is a Foreign Minister who is going on an official visit to the USA after five years. Earlier, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyanwali had visited the US in 2018.
President to offer Dashain Tika from 2 to 5 pm
President Ramchandra Paudel will offer Dashain Tika to willing citizens and dignitaries from 2 pm to 5 pm on the day of Bijaya Dashami on October 24. Issuing a press release on Thursday, the President's Office informed that President Paudel would offer Tika to the members of the federal cabinet, province chiefs, justices, lawmakers, officials of constitutional bodies, civil servants and security personnel ranking at or above the level of section officer from 2 pm to 3 pm. Similarly, he will offer Tika to citizens from 3 pm to 5 pm.
Local levels to assist in border security
Elected representatives of the local levels in Koshi Province bordering India and China have assured necessary support to the security forces in ensuring border security as the cases of cross-border crimes and smuggling are on the rise. The assurance was made by the ward chairpersons of the local levels in an interaction programme organised by the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 1 Baraha Brigade Headquarters in Pakali, Sunsari. The ward chairpersons stressed that they would provide intelligence and other support to the APF in preventing human trafficking and drug smuggling among others.
