Kathmandu, June 6 : The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has proposed to the World Football Federation (FIFA) to hold the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 qualifying games after four months. The games that Nepal is scheduled to play have been proposed to be held in coming October and November.
Nepal was supposed to play against Australia, Chinese Taipei and Jordan at home in March. It has now been proposed to be held on October 8 and 13 and November 12 and 17, according to AFC.
Nepal is yet to play three matches under the second round of the qualifying of the World Cup. Under Group B, Nepal has so far collected three points in five games.
It defeated Chinese Taipei to stand in fourth position in the group following Australia, Kuwait and Jordan. The team that tops the group qualifies for the third round of World Cup qualification and book a place in the Asia cup directly.
The World Cup 2022 is scheduled to be held in Qatar while China will host the AFC Asian Cup in 2023.
