Kathmandu, Oct. 16: Nepal suffered 3-0 loss against Jordan on Tuesday night to end their away leg matches of the Asian World Cup Qualifying.
Nepal held Jordan to goal less draw in the first half but conceded three in the second half at Amman International Stadium. Feras Zayed Shilbaya, Baha Faisal and Ahmad Ersan were on target in the victory of Jordan.
After Nepali defender Dinesh Rajbanshi brought down Yaseen Mahmoud Bakheet in the box, referee awarded the home team with penalty. Shilbaya easily converted the spot kick to put Jordan ahead in the 56th minute.
Ersan doubled the tally as he lobbed the ball off Bakheet over custodian Kiran Chemjong into the back of the net in the 78th minute. Faisal sealed the match for home team as he rose highest to head the chip ball off Bakheet to score a third goal in the 88th minute.
In the world cup qualifiers played on 2011, Jordan thrashed Nepal 9-0 in Amman and settled for 1-1 draw in Kathmandu.
Nepal, who are pitted in Group B along with Australia, Chinese Taipei, Jordan and Kuwait, occupy fourth position in the table with three points from four matches. After win over Nepal, Jordan remained at second spot with seven points from two wins and one draw. Following their 7-1 win over Chinese Taipei on Tuesday, unbeaten Australia moved to the top of the table with nine points.
Kuwait trailed at the third place with four points from one win, one draw and one loss. Taipei are at the bottom of the table with three defeats in a row.
Nepal began their second round qualifiers with 7-0 humiliating defeat against Kuwait on September 5 in Kuwait City. Nepal, however, brushed aside the Kuwait defeat with 2-0 victory over Chinese Taipei on September 10.
Nepal swapped their home matches against Kuwait and Chinese Taipei due to incomplete construction of Dasarath Stadium, which was destroyed during the massive earthquake in April, 2015.
Nepal travelled to Canberra to play their third away match against Asian heavyweight Australia on October 10. Australia dominated the match to register 5-0 victory over the visitors.
Nepal will begin their home campaign playing against Kuwait on November 19 at Dasarath Stadium. Chinese Taipei will be their second opponent on home soil on 26th March, 2020. Five days later, Nepal will welcome Australia at Dasarath Stadium. On June 4, Jordan will travel to Kathmandu to play against Nepal.
