Kathmandu, Nov 16: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Saturday dropped its four key national players from the vital match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 qualifiers against Kuwait which is scheduled to be held on 19th November at Changlimithang Stadium, Thimpu, Bhutan.
The suspension of the key players came on the day the team was scheduled to leave for Bhutan.
The national team’s main striker Bimal Gharti Magar, main mid-fielder s Anjan Bista, Santosh Tamang and defender Dinesh Rajbanshi were suspended on disciplinary grounds.
The four suspended players had visited different discos and clubs of the Thamel, Kathmandu last night from the close-camp of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 qualifiers against Kuwait
All four players Magar, Bista, Tamang and Rajbanshi will miss the match against Kuwait in their first home match of the round 2 qualifiers at Thimpu, Bhutan. ANFA now needs to nominate four alternative players in the place suspended players.
Nepal national football team head Coach Johan Kalin had dropped Anjan Bista against Kuwait in their away match held in last 5th September on discipline charge. Nepal suffered 7-0 defeat at the hands of Kuwait.
According to ANFA spokesperson Kiran Rai, they were dropped from the national team after they had violated the code of the team as visiting the clubs from the national team close-camp.
“All four players Magar, Bista, Tamang and Rajbanshi had visited the clubs late night from the national team close-camp,” Spokesperson Rai said.
ÄNFA will take action with all four players after the Kuwait match, “Spokesperson Rai added.
