Chitwan clinch WCL title

Kathmandu, Oct. 24: Chitwan Rhinos defeated Kat Queens Kathmandu by 45 runs to lift the title of the Women’s Champions League (WCL) Twenty20 Cricket Tournament held at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Thursday.
After invited to bat first, Chitwan collected 112 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Kathmandu were all out for 67 runs in 20 overs.
Chitwan bagged a cash prize of Rs. 700,000 while runners up Kathmandu satisfied with Rs. 300,000.
Suman Khatiwada and Ritu Kanoujiya each picked three wickets to restrict Kathmandu for paltry total. Rekha Rawal also dismissed two batswomen of Kathmandu.
Apsari Begam top scored with 15 runs. She hit two boundaries off 31 balls. Mamta Thapa and Ishwori Bist were the other two batters to contribute with double digit. Thapa hit 14-ball 13 and Bist collected 15-ball 13 while rest of the batswomen fell for cheap score.
Earlier, Suman Khatiwada scored highest for Chitwan with 25-ball 29 which included five boundaries. Opener Kajal Shrestha contributed with 28-ball 21 and Kanchan Shrestha smashed three boundaries to score 19-run off 26 balls. Captain Indu Barma remained not out with 19-ball 22.
Sangita Rai, Laxmi Saud and Saraswati Kumari claimed one wicket apiece for Kathmandu.
Rubina Chhetry Belbashe, Captain of Kathmandu, has been adjudged Player of the Series to collect a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and Scooter. Kajal Shrestha of Chitwan was declared Batsman of the match and Kabita Gautam of Chitwan was named best bowler of the tourney. Shrestha and Gautam took home Rs. 25,000 as a prize money respectively.
