By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan 10: Nepal Police Club cruised into the semi-final of the on-going Manmohan Memorial One Day National Cricket Tournament after beating State 2 by 46 runs at Inaruwa, Sunsari on Friday.

Police men bowled impressively against State 2 to secure their spot at the top four as a winner of the group ‘B’. Police men collected 4 points from 2 matches after registering two wins, first over Karnali State in its first match of the tournament. After suffering a defeat at the hands of Police men, State 2 had crashed out from the tournament.

All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and Lalit Bhandari grabbed three wickets apiece for Police men as they dismissed State 2 at 137 in 42.2 overs. Similarly, Pawan Sarraf took two wickets while Lalit Rajbanshi and Sagar Dhakal contributed one wicket each in the Nepal Police victory.

All-rounder Airee was declared the Man of the Match for his all-round performance against State 2.

State 2 made a poor start as its opener Sudhir Chaudhary was catch out by Lalit Bhandari in the four balls of the first over while he scored just 4 runs.

The middle order batsman Bishal Susling control the State 2 inning’s as scored highest runs for his team. Susling his 80 runs but his effort went in the vain as his teammates could not maintain its tempo after his out.

The rising batsman Susling scored 80 runs off 112 balls that included 8 boundaries and 5 sixes while Opener Shankhar Shah scored second highest 18 runs off 44 balls that included one boundary.

Similarly, Hasim Ansari scored 10 runs for Victim State 2 in the match, he scored 10 runs off 27 balls that included one boundary.

Earlier, State 2 won the toss and invited to departmental side Nepal Police Club to bat first and they scored 183 runs with the loss of all wickets in the 48.1 overs in the allocated 49 overs match.

Dipendra Singh Airee scored highest runs with his individual half century for Police men. Airee scored 50 runs off 64 balls that included 5 boundaries and two sixes. Opener Amit Shrestha scored second highest with 37 runs off 65 balls that included 5 boundaries.

Similarly, Anil Sah scored 19 runs for Police men that included three boundaries and Rashid Khan delivered 16 runs off 36 balls that included one boundary.

Other batsmen of Police were failed to face attacking bowling of Province No.2 as they could not makes double digit for their team.

Kumar Thapa alone took five wickets while Bibek Yadav and Rahul Pratab Singh grabbed two wickets each for State 2 in the match.
