By Upesh Maharjan, Kathmandu, Sept. 18: The University Grant Commission of Nepal (UGC) has stressed the need for various researches and investigations to boost the education sector and overall development of the country.
Dr Pramod Poudel, Director of Research Division at the UGC, said that researches have a pivotal role in elevating education level as well as for the overall development of the country while attending the five days training workshop on 'Project Proposal and Journal Article Writing' conducted at Mangal Multiple Campus, hosted by UGC.
He further said that UGC has been supporting from One lakh to 20 lakhs rupees for research and investigation purposes.
Prof. Dr Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki, Dean, Faculty of Education, TU said that despite the good educational policy of the country, there is a lack of production of skilled manpower for proper monitoring. He also expressed his dismay over the involvement of students in buying thesis from the market and presenting as their own.
Prof. Dr Dharma Raj Dangol, Coordinator of the workshop said that the concerned authority should take due concern about research and investigation as research in Nepal are of International standard. This in turn will support the uplift of the country.
Prof. Dr Hira Bahadur Maharjan, former Vice-chancellor of TU stressed that the thesis of PhD must be used ineffectively in extant.
The workshop was organised from September 12 to 16. In the workshop, five former professors of TU, Prof. Dr Shivsharan Maharjan, Prof. Dr Shyam Krishna Maharjan, Prof. Dr Laxmi Bahadur Maharjan, Prof. Dr Bal Krishna Shrestha and others had imparted training on various research methods from September 12 to 16.
20 teachers have attended the event from renowned colleges of Kirtipur comprising Mangal Multiple Campus, Sahid Smarak College, and Janadhar Community College.
