By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr. 2: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today inaugurated the much-awaited distribution of the Melamchi water.
An event was conducted in Bhrikuti Mandap where the President had opened the lids to three stone spouts. The president also switched on a water fountain in Bhrikuti Mandap.
Speaking at the inauguration event Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Bidya Sundar Shakya said that this in itself is like a festival for the people of Kathmandu.
Over 17 million of the water was released on its first phase. The Mayor also mentioned that he expresses the wishes of the people of Kathmandu and that they need water from Yangre and Larke rivers as well from the current government.
The Mayor also expressed his joy by saying that his commitment to the people of Kathmandu to bring the water of Melamchi to Kathmandu has finally been achieved.
He also praised Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli by saying that he commits to what he says. Mayor Shakya also believes that the second phase of the project will be conducted very soon.
