Leaders of five party ruling coalition consult with law experts

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 23: Top leaders of the ruling five party coalition held a consultation meeting with the legal experts to resolve crisis related to contradiction between the Constitution and the Act relating to Local Level Election at Baluwatar today.

"The leaders of the five parties held a joint discussion with the law experts. There is constitutional provision that the Act relating to Local Level Election becomes invalid wherever it contravenes with the Constitution. This has called for the need to amend the Act," informed Dev Prasad Gurung, a leader of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center), who participated in the meeting.  

Gurung said issues were raised with regard to sub-clauses of clause 3, 4 and specially clause 55 as they are needed to be amended. He said discussion was held accordingly and suggestions received in the same line.

He said no discussion was held on holding federal level election prior to the local election.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, NC leader Ram Chandra Paudel, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and leader Gurung as well as leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha were present in the meeting.
