Kathmandu, May 1: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel has said the government since its formation has accorded top priority to the labour sector with a goal of rapid economic development.
Extending best wishes to all working Nepali at home and abroad on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day today, the Deputy Prime Minister said the government has increased the budget for the labour sector and implemented several programmes based on four goals: production of skilled human resources, job creations, social security and safe and accessible foreign employment.
In the message, DPM Pokhrel, also the coordinator of High-Level Covid-19 Crisis Management Center, has urged one and all to follow entire health safety protocols against Covid-19 as ‘life comes first’, expecting cooperation from all quarters of life to implement mandatory measures taken by the government for health and life of the people.
He went on to say that it had been decided to continue the operation of the industrial sector by ensuring food and accommodation facilities for workers inside industries and workers’ safety and their job guarantee was the special concern of the government at this hour. Applauding the role of frontline workers during the time of the Covid-19 crisis, he promised a special economic package for them in recognition of their courage and contributions.
