By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Nov. 3: The work of cutting down the bushes and trees around the runway of Nepalgunj Airport has been started after three warthogs collided with the Sita Air flight on Tuesday.
Banke Chief District Officer Surya Bahadur Khatri said that the bushes cutting has been started on Wednesday as there are many bushes and grass around the runway of the airport.
On Tuesday morning, three warthogs collided with Sita Air's 'Nine N-AHB' flight from Nepalgunj to Simkot, Humla.
"Although there was no major accident from the incident, such incidents could happen again at any time and there could be huge damage," said Khatri.
150 security personnel have been mobilized to remove shrubs around the runway of the airport.
Stating that this work should be done by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) from its own budget, Khatri said that the number of wild animals colliding with the plane has been increasing so due to security reasons the work of shrubs cut down has been started suddenly.
Due to the security negligence of the airport management, wild animals have repeatedly collided with the aircraft. The airport currently has a 1,700-meter runway.
