Fulpati received in Dashain Ghar

Fulpati is anointed at the Dashain Ghar, Basantpur Durbar Square, Kathmandu.

Kathmandu, Oct. 23: On the occasion of Bada Dashain festival, the Fulpati is being taken into the homes as per tradition throughout the country today.

Fulpati, an assortment of flowers, leaves and fruits of different plants considered auspicious, is anointed at the Dashain Ghar on the seventh day of the Bada Dashain festival.

The Fulpati, a collection of seven different auspicious plants, was decorated before setting up it at an auspicious time as per the Vedic rites as the symbol of deity.

On this day, sugarcane stick, turmeric, banana stalks, plant of paddy, Belpatra, Darim and some other plants are tied with red cloth along with Kalash filled with holy water are set up on a decorated palanquin.

Chairman of Nepal Calendar Determination Committee Prof Dr Ram Chandra Gautam said that the devotees worship wishing for strength as per the Vedic rites by welcoming Fulpati that is also known as Nawapatrika.

Prof Dr Gautam said that there is no need of special time to set up Fulpati.

The Fulpati is brought to Kathmandu from Gorkha Durbar as per the Vedic rites to be anointed at the Dashain Ghar of Hanumandhoka Durbar.

The Gurujyuko Platoon, the Nepal Army, Nepal police, and high-ranking officials of the Armed Police and civil service, the Asha Gurja team, band music, and panchebaja and decorated kalsyoulis, and a procession along with cultural pageantry leave Hanuman Dhoka from Jamal with the Fulpati.
This year, Fulpati was brought from Gorkha with limited number of people by maintaining physical distancing owing to infection of coronavirus, officials said.
