By Abinash Chaudhari, Dhangadhi, July 4: Eastern area of Kailali district has been inundated following incessant rainfall through out Thursday night which flooded the rivers and rivulets flowing through the area.

Some houses of Bhajani Municipality, Bardagoriay Rural Municipality, Joshipur Rural Municipality and Ghodaghodi Municipality have been submerged, according to Pratik Bista, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Kailali district police office.

Some 20 houses at Rajipur of ward 3 and Fariya village of ward 4 of Joshipur Rural Municipality have been inundated with two-feet high water logging, said DSP Bista.

A mud house of Hira Lal Chaudhari at Fariya collapsed as the flooded water ran into the house. All the member of the family have been evacuated to a safe place, said DSP Bista.

Likewise, flooding in the Baskoti (Ghaila) River of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality has soaked 16 houses located at the river bank.

"The flood stormed an ox and fishes farmed in manmade pond," said DSP Bista.

Furthermore, Laxmi Neupane's house in Ghodaghodi Municipality-2 and few houses of Bhajani Municipality 1 and 3 also submerged in flood.

Janak Dhami, in-charge of Bhajani Area Police Office, said that information of flood victims was being collected.

No significant damage has been recorded despite the flooding, said Dhami.  

The heavy rainfall on Thursday night had caused flooding in rivers including Kadha, Kandra and Pathraiya in the eastern area of Kailali.
