PM Oli to visit Taplejung, Ilam today

Taplejung, Nov. 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to arrive in Taplejung on Monday to inaugurate the office building of the Community Health Unit constructed at Ghunsa in Lelep, Phaktanglung Gaunpalika – 6 and inspect the border with China’s Tibet.
He will first inaugurate the building constructed under the initiative of the Ghunsa Foundation and then inspect the border between Nepal and China at Tiptala Bhanjyang by helicopter, informed Chief District Officer Jharendra Prasad Chapagain.
On the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit, the residents of Ghunsa, Phale and Gyabla are also preparing to submit a joint memorandum.
According to local Mingmadandu Sherpa, the memorandum is to request the Prime Minister to bring a plan to support tourism development in the area.
“We want to ask him to construct a foot trail to facilitate the tourists who come to climb Kanchenjunga and formulate a plan to upgrade the newly-built health unit to a primary health centre,” Sherpa explained. “Similarly, the memorandum also asks for Ghunsa’s micro-hydro’s capacity to be developed from 35 kilowatts to 100 kilowatts so that it will help provide three dozen houses of Ghunsa, one and a half dozen houses of Phale and more than two dozen houses of Gyabla with access to electricity.”
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai and Chief Minister of State 1 Sherdhan Rai will accompany the Prime Minister.
After Taplejung’s programme, Prime Minister Oli will travel to Sandakpur, Ilam, to inaugurate a border outpost set up there.
