NC again revises convention calendar

Kathmandu, Nov. 30: The Central Election Committee of the Nepali Congress has again rescheduled the calendar of the party’s 14th general convention again.
Now the party rescheduled the provincial committee general convention for December 4-5. Earlier, it was scheduled for December 2-3.
Election Committee member Tej Rawal informed that the provincial committee general convention will be inaugurated on December 2, nomination of candidacy will be filed on December 3 and election will be held on December 4.

It also scheduled the inauguration of the Central Working Committee general convention on December 10, candidacy nomination on December 11 and election on December 13.
Earlier, the election date was scheduled for December 12. The committee rescheduled the calendar after top leaders of the NC agreed to revise it.

Prime Minister and NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel and leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula Monday morning held discussion and agreed to amend the calendar.
Meanwhile, the Election Committee endorsed the ward, municipal, provincial constituency, federal constituency and district level convention of Dadeldhura district.

Addressing dissatisfaction of a section of Dadeldhura-based NC leaders and workers on Monday, the committee decided the general convention was held as per the party statute. Earlier, a section of the district leaders had demanded annulment of all levels of convention held in Dadeldhura stating that it was one-sided.

Likewise, the Election Committee said it did not get any results of district general convention from any district on Monday.Rawal said it had got results of district level general convention of 45 districts as of Sunday evening and no additional result was received.
However, Krishna Sabuj Baniya has been elected as NC Kathmandu District chair. Baniya secured victory defeating Upendra Karki.

Likewise, our Dhading correspondent said Ram Nath Adhakari was elected NC district chair by defeating Bhim Prasad Dhungana. Adhikari secured 1082 votes and Dhungana 1046 votes.
In Sindhupalchowk, the Federal Constituency level general convention concluded.According to our district correspondent, Bal Krishna Basnet was elected as Federal Constituency Committee chair of the party in Constituency 1. NC Central Member Mohan Basnet, Hari Sharan Shrestha, Bishnu Bahadur Khatri, Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, Prem Dhoj Lama, Dorge Sherpa, Shrawan Kumar GC, Pasang Nupu Sherpa, Ram Bahadur Lama, Junga Bahadur Lama and Bhola Thapa were elected as party central general convention representatives from open category.

Lila Nepal, Masina Khadka, Gelmu Sherpa (Budhathoki), Samita Ghimire Khadka, Ram Kumar Thapa, Yudhir Paudel, Kabita Gurung, Laxmi Devi Shrestha, Midhu Devi Lama, Dima Jangbo Shrepa, Himal Kumar Shrestha, Prem Lama, Tapendra Darnal and Gita Nepal were elected as central general convention representatives from other categories.

In Constituency Number 2, Aaitaman Tamang was elected Federal Constituency Committee chair. According to District Election Officer Devendra Koirala, in Constituency 2, Bamsa Lal Tamang, Nima Gyalgen Shrepa, Nima Lama, Bikash Tamang, Bikash Lama, Bir Bahadur Tamang, Bharat Khadka, Rajendra Bahadur Gorkhali, Sagar Kumar Shrestha, Jimi Lama, Prakash Gurung, Shree Lama, Shiva Sunar, Shiva Hari Nepal, Renuka Shrestha, Karina Puri, Ganga Chapagain, Jamuna Moktan, Uddhab Baniya, Basudev Adhikari, Gopini Giri, Kalika Gol, Sanu Maya Himalaya, Sabita Gurung and Laxmi Sunar were elected as central general convention representatives.
