Kathmandu, Sept. 18: The government Thursday recommended names of over 450 persons for receiving various medals, decorations and orders on the occasion of the Constitution Day.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Official Residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli this afternoon took the decision to this effect. The country is marking the Constitution Day on September 19.
According to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, the meeting today took a decision to send recommendation letter consisting the names of the recipients of various medals, decorations and orders for their contribution to the country from their respective fields.
Meanwhile, talking to The Rising Nepal, Joint Secretary and spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs Chakra Bahadur Budha said although the amended regulation regarding the distribution of medals and decorations had a provision to distribute only 200 medals in a year, the number of the medals had gone up this time a well.
“It is the government or the Cabinet that decides the number of medals and decorations to be conferred on the Constitution Day,” he said.
Regulations made in this regard can be changed at any time, he said.
