By Our Correspondent Rukum West, June 13: In lack of textbooks, teaching learning activities have not begun in various schools of Rukum West district. Although teachers and students attend the schools every day, they do not attend classes and return home after attendance. The reason, both the teachers and students have no textbooks.
Garima Sharma, a class 5 student of Shree Balsewa Basic School in Banfikot Rural Municipality-9, said that she had been to school regularly just for attendance as the classes were not running in lack of books.
Navin KC, who is studying at Tribhuvan Janata Secondary School of Musikot Municipality-1, said that he was going to school carrying only copies but teachers send them back home after completing their attendance task.
Shankar Kumar Rawal, headmaster of Tripura Secondary School of Musikot Municipality-1, said that there was a problem in the school in lack of textbooks.
As the curriculum from class four to class seven has been changed for this academic session, the teachers are also in confusion to run the classes in lack of textbooks, Rawal said.
“However, I have already instructed the teachers to teach on the basis of old curriculum for now,” he said.
Biraj Gautam, proprietor of Gautam Education Centre, complained that they were unable to get textbooks though they were in regular contact with Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC) Chief of the Education, Youth and Sports Branch of Musikot Municipality Binaram Khadka said that there were complaints that textbooks were not available in all schools. He said that the municipality has already deposited money in the account of the schools concerned for the purchase of textbooks.
