Lahan, Sept 1: Chief Minister of State 2, Lalbabu Raut, has said women empowerment was necessary for social transformation.
Distributing cycles to the girl students of Lahan-based Laxman Lalita Kushbaha Secondary School under 'Save Daughters, Educate Daughters' campaign amidst a programme here today, Chief Minister Raut said daughter should be highly educated like sons as women empowerment is the major base of overall development.
He said different programmes like daughter education insurance and cycle distribution were launched under the programme to educate every daughter by ending discrimination between son and daughter. Saying that the State government had also guaranteed employment to daughters in addition to the education, CM Raut argued that discrimination against daughters in any pretext was unacceptable.
On the occasion, CM Raut distributed cycles to 103 girl students of the school.
