By Prem Raj Simkhada, Kalikot, Oct. 12: The Karnali River, which was blocked by a landslide at Juddibhir of Swamikartik Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 of Bajura last night, has gradually returned to its normal level. The river was blocked for two hours.

After two hours, the river began to flow back to its previous flow, which has lessened the panic among the locals.

According to the Kalikot Administration now, the river has started flowing at its old level. Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Acharya said that there was a big risk as the river was slowly coming to the surface.

Due to the block by the landslide, a one Kilometer long lake has been formed. He said that it is possible to estimate whether the risk is less as Karnali is flowing from the landslide.

According to the locals, the Karnali River suddenly fell 10 to 15 meters below normal this morning. The Karnali River, which flows through Hilsa of Humla, is also the longest river in Nepal.

After the water level of the Karnali River decreased at once people have panicked Tuesday morning. The security forces were also on high alert.  According to the police, the water level of the Karnali River was decreased by 50 per cent.
