A woman died and one man was injured in the attacks of wild animals at Kanchanrup Municipality in the district.
The deceased was identified as Sitadevi Sada, 35, a permanent resident of Kanchanrup municipality-6 in Saptari district.
Sada was killed when a boar attacked her while she was cutting grass in the forest on Saturday afternoon, according to District Police Office.
Sada who had sustained deep cut injury on her neck, breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Dharmeshwore hospital.
Similarly, 75-year old Sanaman Bhujel was injured when he was attacked by a wild elephant in Kanchanrup Municipality-12 in the district on Saturday. He was attacked when he was irrigating his wheat field.
Bhujel was referred to Biratangar-based Koshi Zonal Hospital for further treatment after receiving minor treatment at a local health post, according to the Area Police Office, Kanchanpur.
Over one dozen locals had already lost their lives in the wild elephant attacks in Saptari district.
Wild elephants enter Kanchanrup Municipality and Krishnasabaran Rural Municipality from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.
Lawmakers from the district Dr. Surya Narayan Yadav and State Assembly member Suman Raj Pyakuel had allocated Rs. 60 million for the current fiscal year to the wild animal menace in the area.
