Traffic Police take to Sarangi for spreading awareness

Kathmandu, Feb 25 : The Traffic Police have taken to one of the country's traditional folk musical instruments, the Sarangi, to create awareness among people on road safety.    
The Traffic Police have used the Sarangi tune to spread traffic awareness in 7,700 people so far. Sarangi is a stringed instrument.    
The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division had launched the Traffic Awareness Programme since February 12 and had employed the Sarangi for this purpose, among other measures.    
Division chief, Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal said awareness on traffic rules and road safety has been spread with the help of songs related to the traffic rules and road safety accompanied by the playing of the Sarangi.    
The Division has been doing this at New Baneshwar, Bagbazaar, Ratnapark, Bir Hospital, New Road, Kalimati, Tripureshwar, Naya Buspark, Kalanki, Swoyambhu, Koteshwar, Airport and Jawalakhel.    
Hemraj Gandharva, Balaram Gandharva, Dil Bahadur Gandharva among other musicians have been singing songs related to traffic rules and road safety by playing the Sarangi at these places.
