Nepalgunj, Sept. 13: Remaining closed for four months, schools in Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City have resumed their classes in physical presence from Sunday.
The schools were closed in April this year after the arrival of the second wave of COVID-19.

The schools have started running regular classes after Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City's Education Department gave them permission to open.
Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, section officer of Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City, said the schools have to follow the criteria as per the guidelines of smart lockdown while operating the classes.
Shahi said they instructed the schools to conduct classes in different shifts on the basis of the number of students.

He said that only one-third of the total students should be allowed to stay in a class. He further said that only two students should be kept in one bench.
The department will monitor schools regularly, he added.

Kohalpur Municipality and Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City are in yellow zone and other six municipalities are in the green zone in terms of the risk of COVID-19. No municipality in Banke is in the red zone.
Khajura Rural Municipality of Banke has allowed to resume classes by implementing the shift system since last week.

Likewise, Raptisonari Rural Municipality of Banke has stated that the schools in its territory would come into operation from Monday.
Although Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City has given permission to operate schools from Sunday, many private schools have not yet resume their classes.

The private school operators said that would open schools only after discussing with the parents and getting their approval.
