By Our Correspondent, Rajbiraj, Jan. 12: Schools in Rajbiraj Municipality of Saptari are found running classes without taking health safety measures to stave off coronavirus.
Teachers of Public Bindeshwari Secondary School, which is in the centre of Rajbiraj Municipality, said that they were compelled to conduct classes at risk of lack of materials to prevent coronavirus infection.
Rasho Devi Sah, a teacher of the school, said though the school had appointed a staff nurse she can’t work in lack of a thermometer, soap, and other health items for treatment.
Nita Yadav, another teacher of the school, at an interaction held here recently, said that the school was running teaching-learning activities keeping up to five students on a bench after the number of students increased.
Another teacher, Dalli Kumari Singh, complained that some parents were sending their children to school without masks.
Parent Jitendra Jha said the school did not seem careful about the risk of COVID-19 and some teachers were not interested in teaching.
He said that the students and parents would be happy if the school took monthly and quarterly examinations to assess the knowledge gained by the students.
Mohan Mishra, Assistant Headmaster of Public Bindeshwari Secondary School, said that parents, teachers, students and other stakeholders should work hard to create a suitable environment in the school as the pressure of students was increasing and discipline was weakening.
Similarly, a parent Bashishta Narayan Jha said that the attraction towards community schools had been increasing after the government started providing facilities but the District Education Coordination Unit and the local level was not paying the needed attention.
Student Poonam Bhagat said that the preparation for the exam was hampered as no full-time and practical classes were taken.
Speaking on the occasion, INSEC representative Manohar Kumar Pokhrel said that everyone should be serious about fulfilling their responsibilities. He suggested that teachers, parents and students should follow the rules and interact with guardians and other stakeholders.
