Rukum incident: FIR filed against 20, 12 arrested

Musikot, May 27:  The families of the victims in the incident that occurred at Soti of Churjahari Municipality-8 in Rukum Paschim have filed the first investigation report (FIR) against 20 persons.    

The incident took place on May 13 over the inter-caste marriage bid. The issue ended up with the killings of three persons while some others are still missing.    

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Thaga Bahadur KC, being based on the complaints filed by the victims' families, 12 have been already arrested and remaining eight are being searched for.    

The arrested are Ward Chair Dambar Bahadur Malla, Dilli Malla, Bir Bahadur Malla, Prakashi Malla, Santosh Malla, Mohan Pun Magar, Ramesh Bahadur Malla, Man Bahadur Malla, Top Bahadur Malla, Tula Bahadur Malla, Prem Bahadur Thakuri and a 17-year-old girl.    

The police have already been given permission for ten days to investigate into the matter. ''Now the investigations have begun,'' DSP KC said.    
A group of 18 youths had reached Soti on May 23. The irate locals had chased them away during which three youths were killed while three others were made to disappear. They are still missing.    

The dead bodies of Nawaraj BK and Ganesh Budha of Bheri Municipality-4 of Jajarkot and Tikaram Nepali of Chaurjahari Muncipality-1 of the same district were found in the Bheri River.    

Those missing following the attack are Lokendra Sunar and Govinda Shahi of Bheri Municiplaity-11 and Sanju BK of Ward No 4 of Bheri Municipality.    

A search and rescue team has been mobilized to find those missing ones. The victims’ families have lodged a complaint in the Jajarkot police office.
