Kathmandu, July 22: As many as 13 major highways have been obstructed because of the incessant rain since mid-June. According to information of the Department of Roads (DoR), one-way traffic has resumed in 73 of 132 obstructed roads.
Vehicular movements have come to a halt along Jamunaha-Nepalgunj-Kohalpur-Surkhet-Khulalu-Hilsa road section along the Karnali Highway in Dailekh district.
Likewise, the Thori-Rasuwagadhi road of Rasuwa that has been disrupted since July 11 is yet to reopen. An alternative road has been arranged rather than maintaining the regular road, according to Deputy Director General for the DoR Deepak Shrestha.
Vehicular movement has been disrupted in several areas, including Rambazaar and Argale along the Dumre-Beshishahar-Chame road. A bridge at Chame Bazaar was washed away by flooded Marshyangdi River on Tuesday night.
The Liping bridge along the Araniko Highway has also been obstructed. Vehicular movements along the Tanahun’s Dumre-Beshishahar-Chame road section, which has been obstructed since last month, are yet to resume. The Timang-Chhahara road along the same stretch has also been disrupted.
Also, Martadi-Kolti road section at Budhinanda Municipality-2 and Sanphe-Martadi road section at Budhnanda Municipality-1 in Amkot have come to a complete halt for past 11 days.
