Kathmandu, Jan. 5: Standing Committee meeting of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to prepare for its month-long second phase nationwide agitation against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
The meeting chaired by Madhav Kumar Nepal on Monday decided to make preparations for the solo agitation.
Party chair Nepal presided the meeting today as another chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, flew to India taking his ailing wife this morning. The meeting also decided to make effort for a joint agitation against the recent move of the government.
The faction on Saturday had decided to announce its month-long solo second phase agitation against the dissolution of the parliament, after its effort to launch a joint agitation with the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajwadi Party failed.
Party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the meeting discussed about the upcoming agitation and to use the whole party structures to make the protest more effective.
“For this, struggle committees will be formed from the ward level to the provincial level and national level under the coordination of senior party leaders Yogesh Bhattarai, Pampha Bhusal and Ganesh Shah,” said Shrestha. “Our protest will be peaceful,” he assured. The meeting also reviewed the ongoing agitation launched by the faction, he added.
The meeting has also formed a task force to restructure the party committees, Shrestha informed.
According to him, the task force was formed under the leadership of chairman Nepal to finalise the leadership in the party committees and complete the task of the party unity. The task force has Astha Laxmi Shakya, Bhim Rawal, Gokarna Bista, Lila Mani Pokharel, Shakti Basnet, Pampha Bhusal, Bedu Ram Bhusal, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Janardan Sharma, Surendra Pandey and Matrika Yadav as its members.
