Jhapa, Jan 18 : Monitoring of potential polling booths and stations has started in Jhapa district after the government announced fresh elections to the members of House of Representatives (HoR) for coming April 29 and May 11 after its dissolution.
The district polling booths and stations recommendation committee formed under the convenorship of Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Timsina started monitoring since last Sunday.
The committee has so far monitored polling booths and stations at Birtmodh, Arjundhara, Damak, Shivasatakshi municipality and Kamal and Bahradashi rural municipality, shared committee coordinator and CDO Timsina.
He informed that the committee comprised chiefs of the political parties, security agencies’ chiefs, election officials and chief of the concerned Palika
There were 283 polling booths and 692 polling stations in Jhapa in the previous elections to the HoR members. The number of booths and stations would go up this time, he added. Recommendation will be made to place polling booths and stations in a way to ease voters in all Palikas.
Consultations with the representatives of political parties and local levels are taking place in course of determining the location of booths and stations, he further said.
