Kathmandu, April 1: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to make a master plan for the overall development of the education sector and use of human resources.    

At a programme organised at the official residence of the Prime Minister to hand over the report with schools selected for the President Educational Reform Programme, Prime Minister Oli asked the Ministry to bring the master plan reflecting the current state of education, future action plan and employment assessment.    

He opined that the government was effortful for the formulation of planned programmes as education is taken as the basic basis of development.

The Prime Minister shared, "Our education should reach the doorsteps of farmers with life-changing formula and skill. It is necessary to develop our education to make citizens capable."    

He clarified that the government would not allow education to go backward as capable, qualified and efficient citizens are big assets of the country.    

PM Oli further said that the President Educational Reform Programme would determine the basis to make education capable in terms of knowledge and infrastructure.    

He opined, "The quality of the students cannot be improved unless the quality of teacher is improved. Teachers should transfer knowledge to students in the right way."    

On the occasion, Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Krishna Gopal Shrestha handed over a report including the bases of selection for the President Educational Reform Programme and the list of selected projects.    

He expressed the conviction that the Programme would contribute towards fulfilling the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.    

Ministry Secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya informed that a total of 6,921 schools had applied for the Programme and of these 4,250 schools have been selected.    

Director General at the Centre for Education and Human Resource Development, Baikuntha Aryal said a budget of Rs 5 billion 650 million has been allocated for the development of the physical facilities including classroom, toilet, information technology, lab and library, new technology, physical infrastructures and educational development, data centre etc, at the selected schools.    

At the programme, PM Oli said the government has been initiating new works and plans one after the other and informed that the reconstructed historic Dharahara would be inaugurated on April 14 on the Nepali New Year's Day. This would be the New Year gift to the people.
