NHRC begins probe into Jajarkot incident

Jajarkot, June 2 : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team has arrived Jajarkot and started a probe into the killing of five persons over a case of wedding issue in Chaurjahari of West Rukum.    
NHRC team led by Deputy Director Chandra Kanta Chapagain from Nepalgunj Regional Office made the onsite visit and met with the local administration, police, victims and stakeholders.    
The NHRC team met with the families of Nabaraj BK, Sanjib BK and Ganesh Budha, who died in the inhuman incident.    
The victims’ families have demanded that a fair probe be initiated while seeking actions against the criminals and the security guarantee of the victims’ families.    
“My son was murdered only for being from the Dalit community,” Nabaraj’s father Munlal told the NHRC team, seeking fair probe and actions to those involved in the killing.    
On the occasion, Chapagain said the locals that the NHRC was doing special surveillance and initiatives for the fair probe and investigation into the case.    
He also assured of justice to the victims’ families. “We will prepare a report by incorporating the facts received in course of the onsite visit and will give it to the government. Our vigilance will continue,” he said.
