Kathmandu, Oct 19 : Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has instructed all of its parliamentarians to return Dashain allowance this year.

The former Prime Minister, today morning instructed the parliamentarians not to accept the allowance or return if they have already received it so that the government could utilise it for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Deuba, who is also the NC’s federal parliamentarian party leader, directed the parliamentarians in today’s meeting of the NC’s parliamentary party.

Similarly, NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand informed that the NC would keep up a correspondence with its parliamentarians today itself regarding the return of the Dashain allowance.

Khand asserted that it is the prime duty and responsibility of the government to safeguard its citizens’ lives during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

He demanded that the incumbent government revokes its decision not to bear the test and treatment expenses of the COVID-19 patients, terming the decision to be irresponsible one.
