NA men to march from Gorkha to capital to mark National Unity Day

Kathmandu, Dec. 31: On the occasion of the National Unity Day, the Nepali Army is going to hold a unification march from Gorkha to Kathmandu.
Ujjwal KC, Lieutenant Colonel and Battalion head of Ranasingh Dal Battalion, Gorkha, said that the function was going to begin from January 5 to recall the Memorial Day of late national unifier Prithvi Narayan Shah, who had himself begun the national unification drive from Gorkha.
The unification march will cover the routes used by King Prithvi Narayan during his unification campaign.
“The march starts from Hanuman Chauta of Gorkha Municipality and pass through the Gorkha Durbar where King Prithvi Narayan Shah was born,” KC said.
He said that the army squad in the costume of the then King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s time would go out on foot.
The team is scheduled to reach Kathmandu on the National Unity Day and Prithivi Jayanti on Poush 27.

Locals are preparing to hold a tableau programme to welcome the army at Borlangghat in Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-8.
KC said that the army squad will walk with the flag and torch light of Srinath, Kalibaksh, Purano Gorakh, Bardwani and Sabuj battalions of the Nepali Army established during the reign of Prithvi Narayan Shah.
The team will march from Gorkha to Dhading border and will hand over the army flag and torch to the Dhading-based Devidutta Battalion and the Dhading-based army battalion will carry the flags and torches from Dhading to the Nuwakot border.
Similarly, the army battalion in Nuwakot will hand over the flag and torch to the army in Kathmandu. He said that the trek will reach Kathmandu on Poush 27.
Battalion head KC informed that a team of 40 army squad will walk from Gorkha Durbar.
Last year too, the Nepali Army had held a similar march to mark the day.
