Kathmandu, Sept 9 : Various musical programmes were organized to motivate the people with low vision.

    
People with disability had delivered different cultural performances at a programme 'Experiencing the world you see' in Kathmandu on Sunday.    

The programme was organized to change the mindset of people considering visually-impaired as the subject to sympathy and to inspire the people with low vision.  

  
Saraha Giri, a campaigner pitching for the welfare of people with low vision and hearing impairment in Nepal and India for the past one and a half decades, organized the cultural event in the federal capital.

    
She said the event was organized to impart a message that people with disability or visually-impaired have their own capacity and they are not the subject to sympathy.    

On the occasion, success stories about the winners and best performers in the global competition in gulf, swimming, Mount Everest climbing and food manufacturing were shared.  

  
Likewise, brief profiles of different distinguishing personalities, including chief justice, lawyers, IT designers, software expert, industrialists and exemplary people associated to diverse fields with low vision were also presented at the programme.    

Dr Swarnim Wagle, former Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission, and Birendra Pokharel, Country Coordinator of Abiliz Foundation underlined the need to assure the rights of the people with visual impairment. 

   
Also on the same occasion, Dr Joyal Sander, Director, American Audio Expansion Project, presented a roadmap for the development of technology in Nepal through which hearing aids are used for disabled to comprehend everything.    

The programme was attended by former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav and NCP leader Pampha Bhusal, among others. (RSS)
