Thakre (Dhading), Dec. 29: Muna, the monthly children magazine of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, Saturday marked its 30th anniversary of its publication by organising a special function at Damechaur in Thakre Rural Municipality-5, Dhading.
In the programme jointly inaugurated at Food for People, an organistaion that has been providing lunch for 500 students and snacks for 1500 students of the locality free of cost every day, by chairman of Thakre Rural Municipality Ram Kumar Acharya and Executive Chairman of the Gorkhapatra Corporation Krishna Murarai Bhandari, various speakers highlighted various aspects of the magazine and its target readers, the children.
Executive chairman Bhandari appreciated the Food for People for its services, and its cooks who have been working voluntarily. He also narrated two stories, one related to children and another adults, urging them to work hard.
Welcoming the participants, Consultant Editor of the Gorkhapatra Corporation Gopal Khanal highlighted the publications of the Gorkhapatra Corporation and said that all its publications were to serve the nation.
Rural Municipality chair Acharya deputy chair Ambika Rupakheti, social activist Ramesh Acharya, representatives of Prem Sagar Foundation that has been operating the Food for People since April 2009 and headmasters of local schools thanked the corporation for choosing their locality to mark the 30th anniversary of the Muna.
Likewise, writers and litterateurs writing for children and contributors to the Muna magazine offered various suggestions to make the magazine more useful to the children.
Those who provided suggestions included Dr. Shailendu Prakash Nepal, Pramod Pradhan, Mahesh Prasai, Ratna Prajapati, Damodar Neupane, Buwanhari Sigdel and Debu Luintel, among others.
The event was chaired by Shiva Kumar Bhattarai, editor of Muna. On the occasion, the school students presented cultural programmes.
