By Rajan Raut, Humla, June 17: Repair works of Thunten Rinchhenling Gumba which is located at Halji village in Namkha Rural Municipality-6 has reached the final stage.

Considered to be 1200 years old, the archeologically and historically important monastery was in a dilapidated condition requiring immediate repairing.

Paljor Tamang, ward chair of Namkha Rural Municipality ward number 6, said that the repair work was carried out by a local consumer group and that replacement of wooden structures including staircases and laying of stone slab in the inner open space of the monastery was at the final stage.

He said the wood needed for repairing was carried on yaks from Salli stream area, a two-day walk distance from the village.

The repair work has been carried out with the help of Rs. 2.5 million from the Karnali provincial government. Topes and Lamas of the monastery had asked former provincial minister Jivan Bahadur Shahi for the government aid to repair the historical monastery in October last year.

Although people of two other villages of Limi area, known as region beyond Himalaya, namely Jang and Til have been migrating to other places, residents of Halji are unwilling to migrate because of the monastery.
