By Netra Shahi, Jumla, Apr 9: Concerned authorities of Jumla have been implementing the lockdown in an intensive manner by keeping people returning to the district in quarantine and penalising the vehicles for not following the lockdown directives.

According to Jumla District Police, 13 individuals who had returned to the district on Wednesday from Pyuthan have been kept in quarantine.

The individuals, who used to work in Pyuthan, had reached Ward No 7 of Tatopani Gaunpalika in Jumla after walking for five days and crossed the two districts – Rolpa and Jajarkot.

“The 13 individuals were all youths who were working in Pyuthan. Following the information from locals, we identified them and sent them in
quarantine,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lal Bahadur Dhami, who is also chief of Jumla District Police.

Among the 13 individuals, four were the residents of Tilagufa Municipality and five of Palata Gaunpalika in Kalikot district. The other four were the residents of Hima Gaunpalika in Jumla.

While the individuals of Kalikot have been sent to their respective local bodies to be kept in quarantine and those of Jumla have been kept in the
quarantine constructed at Kalika Secondary School.

Similarly, one individual who was returning via Mina Sagu, the eastern border of Jumla, has also been kept in quarantine after having his health
checked up.

According to the District Administration Office of Jumla, a total of 33 individuals have been kept in quarantine while 213 individuals have been
sent back home after staying in quarantine for 14 days.

“The ones who have returned to the district during the lockdown from different places have chances of transmitting the virus. We cannot take risk due to which the ones who are returning are being kept in quarantine for preventing the spread of COVID-19,” said Durga Banjade, Chief District Officer of Jumla.

Meanwhile, 387 vehicles have been kept on hold for defying lockdown in the district.

Since March 24, when the government implemented nationwide lockdown, 346 two-wheelers and 41 other vehicles have been kept on hold in Jumla.

“The vehicles are taken under control and kept at the District Police Office. The owners are made aware and given a warning,” said DSP Dhami.
