Dolakha, Nov. 19: Locals of Dolakha headquarters have demonstrated by making human chain demanding the blacktopping of Charikot –Khadichaur road.
The locals, experts, journalists, civil society members, students and entrepreneurs participated in the human chain at Satdobato Chowk of Charikot on Tuesday.
The contractors have delayed the construction of the road. From the past four years, the locals are facing hurdle after the road was dug in the name of widening it. So, the locals have protested against the contractors and planners.
Around 500 people joined the hands for demonstration and put pressure on the contractors and road project, said coordinator of Civil Society Dolakha Chiranjivi Maske.
The contract was signed the 55 km road from Khadichaur to Charikot. The road was being widened in the assistance of Indian Axim Bank.
The contractors who were granted contract to expand 25 km road from Khadichaur to Share Danda qut the work after blacktopping only 11km road.
Simanchal Construction Company of India and Nepal Gauri Parpati/ Sunaula Khimti JV were meant to complete the work in October 2017.
Likewise, the contractors of the 30 km road section from Shahare Danda to Charikot have abandoned the work in the middle.
The locals were badly affected when the road widening works were not completed even two years after the contract term expired.
