By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Mar. 31: A Recommendation has been made to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation to register 180 Bighas of land located at Khadsari, Khajura Rural Municipality-6 in Banke district in the name of the government.

Amar Sejuwal, Chief of the Land Reform and Revenue Office, Banke, said, "As the 180 Bighas of land worth Rs. 1.2 billion received from the then government in 1985 AD for sugarcane farming and operation of sugar mill was not found to be used as directed, we have recommended the ministry to register the land in the name of government again."

The Inspection and Monitoring Committee formed under the Chairmanship of Ajaya Shrivastav, coordinator of District Coordination Committee, Banke, made the recommendation to the ministry.

Sejuwal, who is also the member secretary of the committee said, "The land was provided to Tandon family for the operation of sugar mill and sugarcane farming. But it was found that the land was not used neither for farming nor for the operation of the mill for a very long time."

He added that the ministry would re-register the land in the government's name shortly.

Meanwhile, Director of Khadsari Sugar Mills, Ajay Kumar Tandon has claimed that he had enough evidence to show that the land was bought under government facility and was fully used from 2038 BS to 2058 BS for the operation of sugar mill and farming
