KMC to provide emergency aid of Rs. 20 million for Melamchi flood victims

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 17: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to provide an emergency assistance of Rs. 20 million for the victims of the Melamchi flood.

Pasang Nurbu Lama, member of the KMC executive council, said that the 9th convention and municipal assembly held today made a decision to provide the amount to the flood affected families in Melamchi.

As many as seven people have been confirmed dead including six foreign nationals while 20 others went missing when swollen Melamchi and Indrawati Rivers flooded the Melamchi bazaar, according to a statement of the Sindhupalchowk district administration issued on Thursday.

The flooded rivers washed away makeshift houses and covered concrete houses with sand and debris.

Details of the total damage are yet to be made, according to the administration.

Earlier, the KMC had sent medical equipment to control COVID-19 in Melamchi area.
