Kathmandu, Jan. 17: National Examination Board (NEB), Sanothimi Bhaktapur has said that Grade XII result will be made public within this week.
NEB said that it was now verifying the answer sheets of the students after completing the data entry work.
Prof. Dr. Chandramani Poudel, chairperson of the NEB, said that though the board had started working towards making the results out by December 31, that could not happen as so as many schools were yet to send the answer sheets of their students.
Poudel added that schools had given marks at their whims and not based on merit off students because they were authorised to conduct examinations themselves and because of that they needed to re-verify details sent by schools. Some schools have even sent hand-written marks, which is undesirable, he said.
Though the NEB had trained school management on the proper way of entering the marks into the website, many of them failed to comply with that.
This year the board had conducted a written test of only 40 marks with the additional weightage given to internal assessment. This was done in light of COVID-19 pandemic.
About 431,000 candidates had appeared for Grade XII examination from 4,105 examination centres across the country.
Application forms for higher education, including engineering, can be filled out by this week. However, if that deadline is not extended, students are likely to face hardships.
Similarly, NEB is preparing to open the registration form of Grade XI and examination form of Grade XII soon.
Furthermore, NEB said that it had sent a proposal to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) asking it to extend the academic session to mid-June as the course is seemingly impossible to be covered by mid-April.
Schools students, guardians, teachers and other stakeholders are still in dilemma as the government has remained undecided about academic session until now.
