Kathmandu, Oct. 22: The National Examination Board (NEB) has decided to conduct the final examinations of grade 12 from November 24.
The NEB on Wednesday made public the routine of the board exam after the Cabinet recently granted permission to conduct the examinations of all levels. The examinations have been scheduled from November 24 to December 1.Written examinations will be held in physical presence of the students at the examination centres located near their homes.
The board has decided to conduct shorter examinations this year. According to Dr. Chandramani Poudel, NEB chairman, the examination will last for one and a half hours.
The students will appear in the written examination of only 40 per cent of the full marks whereas 40 per cent marks will be added from the marks obtained in grade 11 exams and 20 per cent from internal assessment, Dr. Poudel said.
The board has made arrangements for the examinees to take the exams from their own school or the nearby school. The board has started preparations to hold the exams. The board will prepare a new question paper of 40 full marks.
“If it becomes impossible to transport the question papers, we will send them by email,” Dr. Poudel said.
After Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers to conduct written exams of Class 12, the Council of Ministers had given consent for that. Around 432,000 students will take the examination of 115 subjects.
Earlier, the examinations were scheduled for April but due to COVID-19, they were delayed by eight months.
