GP Foundation awards Gurung for social works in Nuwakot

Kathmandu, Dec. 16: Girija Prasad (GP) Koirala Foundation, Nuwakot has awarded Jagat Bahadur Gurung with its Social Award for his contribution in the social works in Nuwakot district.
At a programme organised on Saturday at Samakhusi, Kathmandu, Gurung was awarded by Nepali Congress senior leader and former Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat and former Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat.
Jagat Bahadur Gurung who received Social Award is a noted social worker of Nuwakot who has been making contribution through his ‘Health and Education for Nepal’ a non- profit social organization.
He has also set Sukman Memorial Polyclinic that has been providing treatment to needy people free of cost.
Because of his contribution in social sector, he was few months ago awarded with Best Youth Social Service Award of the Year and National Citizen Service Award. He was also honoured with Gantabya Nepal Social Service Lifetime Achievement Award- 2019 in May.
In the meantime, Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation, Nuwakot Chair Ramesh Kumar Pathak said that the Foundation would be taken ahead as a social organization.
Pathak also announced that the Foundation had set up a Welfare Fund worth Rs.201000 and said that the Foundation would award two journalists, each with Rs. 10,000 and commendation letter.
At the function, the Foundation provided Radhika Ojha of Nuwakot, Suryagadhi-4 with a cash of Rs 1, 41955 for her kidney treatment. She has been suffering from both kidney failure.
At the programme, the Nepali Congress leaders, workers and party well-wishers of Nuwakot district were present.
The speakers had shed light on the contribution of the former Prime Minister late Girija Prasad Koirala in bolstering peace, democracy and development activities in the country.
