Kathmandu, Sept 9: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has reaffirmed that government would bring a new Film Act aimed at protecting, promoting and regulating the film sector of the country.
Addressing the 32nd anniversary of the Film Artistes Association of Nepal (FAAN) here Monday, Minister Banskota shared that the Act would accord priority to the subject matters that further strengthen nationality and promote unity in diversity.
Banskota however said the bill to this was not presented in the parliament yet owing to some technical issues.
According to him, some media had been spreading misguiding information on playing national anthem. "It's not good for the media to disseminate false information. S/he who does not stand up out of respect for our national anthem is not a true Nepali," he warned.
Underscoring unity among the artistes to further elevate the nationality to a greater height, he pledged to provide a suitable land to construct FAAN's own building.
President of FAAN, artistes Nir Shah, Akash Adhikari and Krishna Malla among others suggested the government that it included provision on welfare of artistes in the new Film Act. (RSS)
